On Facebook, the story of Liliana De La Cruz, a woman from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, who was contacted by an acquaintance so that she and her husband could be “sponsors of school supplies” in this next school year, went viral.
In his post, De La Cruz asked friends and followers if “school supply godparents” really exist, since he had never heard of this. However, if true, I would wholeheartedly help.
Although it has not been confirmed, it seems that the idea of the “godparents of school supplies” came about after some influencers they will give away school supplies to their followers, so other people have tried to replicate it.
Within this context, De la Cruz received a message from an acquaintance who asked her and her husband to be “sponsors of school supplies.” She had never heard of this, so she asked her contacts if it was real and she even shared screenshots of the request. Something that extremely annoyed her acquaintance.
In the screenshots, shared by De la Cruz, the request made by his acquaintance is observed. Later, she questions him if that exists and the woman tells him that “it is like the newest thing that she is using.”
De la Cruz replies that she will talk to her husband about the matter and the woman is outraged, because, apparently, she needed an urgent response and one that was not negative.
In the end, De la Cruz received another message in which his acquaintance is extremely angry and asks that if he was going to “burn” her, at least remove her name.
As expected, the woman ended up blocking De la Cruz, the publication went viral and was soon filled with multiple comments, among which you could read both criticism of this type of request, and support from those who firmly believe that giving a pencil or a notebook can change a child’s life completely.
