After it was revealed that Meghan Markle pressed Harry to make their courtship official, now it is reported that the Duchess’s former royal aides called her “narcissistic sociopath” in a recent book on the secrets of the British Crown.
In the book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown of Valentine Low, the former collaborators narrate how their relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex deteriorated despite the fact that, at the beginning, they considered them “decent people”.
The group of employees called themselves the ‘Sussex Survivors Club’ as, after Megan and Harry abandoned their royal duties, they believe that the former actress had premeditated her estrangement from the royal family.
Attendees came to believe that Meghan’s departure had as “one of her concerns if she was going to be able to make money for herself”.
A former staff member told the author: “She wanted to be rejected because she was obsessed with that narrative from day one.”
The book claims that staff became convinced that the Duchess wanted to show how the institution failed her, and even thought that there was a cynical motive behind staff going so far as to complain to human resources managers.
During the interview that Meghan granted to Oprah Winfrey, in March 2021, it emphasized the difference between the Queen and those around her, those who she felt were refusing to help her.
The forthcoming book, due to hit stores next month, also claims the Duchess of Sussex clashed with workers over accepting gifts.
The Archetypes podcast host reportedly got into an argument with her personal assistant Melissa Toubati, after she tried to explain that royal protocol prohibited accepting gifts from commercial organizations.
“The clashes centered around gifts that some companies were sending Meghan. Deliveries were constantly arriving at Kensington Palace. “Clothes, jewellery, candles… It was non-stop,” a source told Low, who has been reporting on the royal family for more than 25 years.
Similarly, it was revealed that Queen Elizabeth II was hurt after Harry and Meghan’s estrangement.
