The brand whiskas He shares his story with us. It all started in 1966 when a building located in Brooklyn, New York, suffered a fire. While firefighters tried to put out the flames, a particular event caught the group’s attention: a kitten was struggling to get her pups out of the fire. Before this act of unconditional love, the firefighters were surprised.
The firefighters saved all the michis and took them to a veterinarian for treatment. After spending several weeks recovering from the severe injuries they sustained in the accident, mom michi earned the love of everyone who knew her and they named her Scarlett.
This heroic event was so popular that the story gained much fame in the media, and thanks to this her kittens were adopted by several families. Scarlett was fostered by Karen Weller, who took care of her until the last day of her life.
Weller dedicated a large part of her life to caring for cats with special needs, and for this reason and thanks to this woman with a noble heart, all michis’ guardians have been named “Karen” today.
In honor of the Scarlett Kitten there is the award Scarlett Award for Animal Heroismwhich rewards animals that participate in heroic acts, also had its own book: Scarlett Saves Her Family: The Heartwarming True Story Of A Homeless Mother Cat Who Rescued Her Kittens From A Wildfire written by Jane Martin and JC Suares, published in 1997.
Now that you know the story, every time you see something related to the michis you will remember Karen, a heroic woman who is worth remembering for her altruistic work for cats.
