Taking into account how hard it is to gain a foothold in the collective imagination, it is surprising to find actors who have succeeded and with only one role in their filmography. We all remember little Newt from ‘Aliens: The Return’ but… what happened to carrie henn?
one and no more
Carrie Henn (full name Caroline Marie Henn) was born in 1976, in Panama City (Florida, USA). For much of his childhood, he lived at the US Air Force base in Lakenheath, England, when his father was stationed there.
Henn is an example of be in the right place, at the right time: The ‘Aliens: Returns’ team, which was going to be shot at Pinewood Studios, went to her school looking for candidates to play one of the most important characters in the film and that’s where they found her.
They called her shortly after propose to her the role of Rebecca “Newt” Jorden and, despite the fact that he had no idea what was going on, he accepted. At just 9 years old, he auditioned for acting with Sigourney Weaver and everyone was impressed by their good chemistry.
In the sequel to ‘Alien’ (with James Cameron taking over from Ridley Scott in the direction), the actress played that kind of adoptive daughter for the character of Ripley, whose problems with aliens did not end in the Nostromo ship. During filming, Henn recalls that the xenomorphs did not impose much on him and he imagined them as dogsthat they did scare him more.
The interpreter and her family moved to California in 1986, two months before the premiere of what would eventually become the second highest grossing film in the franchise, behind ‘Prometheus’. As a curiosity, his brother Christopher Henn also had a role uncredited on tape.
After her iconic role, Henn was offered many roles but decided to turn them down. simply, acting was no longer a priority in her life and she preferred to focus on being a girlmake friends and adjust to your new life after the move.
In fact, it was the first and last work he did before the cameras, since what she I wanted to be a teacher. In 2000 she graduated as a teacher from California State University and she has been practicing that profession ever since.
Apart from her small role as a voice actress in the animated miniseries ‘Thunder Island’ (2020), Henn has never set foot on a movie set again in her entire life. Of course, not even she herself could imagine the depth that her character had and that she discovered when attended Comic Con in 2016 as a star guest.
A story with a happy ending, in the words of Henn herself: “It’s something that people have a hard time understanding. They don’t understand that acting wasn’t my passion. It was not my dream. Enjoy it? Yes. Was it an amazing experience? Clear. I would do it again? Of course. But it was not my passion. it was teaching“.
