After the brutal ‘Primal’ we already have a new series by Genndy Tartakovsky on the takeoff runway. Adult Swim has revealed the release date of ‘Unicorn: Warriors Eternal‘ (no, it’s not a ‘Unicorn Wars’ spin-off) for May 4 with a global rollout starting May 5 (we imagine on HBO Max) and already we can see a spectacular trailer.
With a touch of fantasy and steampunk this series follows a group of heroes who are reborn to fight a sinister force for all eternity. When this awakening of the heroes manifests in the bodies of unusual hosts, they must find a way to protect the world from darkness.
According to Tartakovsky, this is the culmination of 20 years of work in which he has been learning to achieve what he proposes:
“This series was created in my early days at Cartoon Network Studios over 20 years ago. All of the projects we’ve worked on—’Dexter’s Laboratory,’ ‘Samurai Jack,’ and ‘Sym-Bionic Titan’—were kind of a training ground to prepare for this series. It took us all that time to finally be able to tackle a series like ‘Unicorn: Warriors Eternal’.”
Tartakovsky creates and directs the series, who has his usual team formed by Stephen DeStefano in character design, Tyler Bates and Joanne Higginbottom in music or Joel Valentine in sound effects design. Hazel Doupe as Melinda, Tom Milligan as Edred, and Demari Hunte as Seng are the main original voice cast.
Synopsis and poster of ‘Unicorn: Warriors Eternal’
“An evil force rises upon the dark, stale-air streets of industrial revolution London when a group of heroes called the Unicorn are accidentally resurrected in the bodies of teenagers instead of the adult hosts they have used in the past. Melinda, a powerful sorceress; Seng, a cosmic monk, and Edred, an elven warrior. With distorted memories and their magical abilities weakened and fragmented, the trio must work together with the help of their steam powered robot, Copernicus, to unravel the mysteries of their past and present that their capino will reveal in order to defeat a timeless threat.
