At Warner they have finally accepted the mistake they made by breaking their alliance with Amazon so that HBO Max would also be available through Prime Video. It has been more than a year now – in September 2021, to be more exact – that they broke that professional link that is now resumed in the United States and most likely will also extend to other countries.
What is the agreement and what exactly does it entail?
The agreement means that those Prime Video users who want to also subscribe to HBO Max through this platform will be able to do so. Let’s go, It will be like another paid channel within the Amazon streaming service. At the time, HBO Max had an additional 5 million subscribers through this modality and the disappearance of Prime Video brought with it the loss of many of them.
This allows customers unify the bill for two services into one, but the savings are zero in economic terms, since the cost -$14.99- is exactly the same as if you contracted HBO Max in isolation. The big difference here is that Amazon keeps a percentage of what users pay instead of going all to Warner.
What this does not mean in any case is a merger of Amazon Prime Video and HBO Max. Both continue to operate separately and this is nothing more than a trade agreement that benefits both parties. Amazon gets paid for allowing this option, and HBO Max gets an additional amount of subscribers it wouldn’t otherwise have.
the new deal has been signed until the end of 2024 and will allow subscribers to have access to Warner’s new streaming platform, the result of the merger between HBO Max and Discovery+, which will run throughout 2023. For now, they are the only ones that have this guaranteed, and the question remains about subscribers to through other ways.
This means that in Spain we still do not know if we are going to lose that juicy offer that allowed us to subscribe to HBO Max at half price forever. Technically, HBO Max will cease to exist, so Warner can make the decision they think is most appropriate. A separate issue is the possible indentation of clients that they could have if they were eliminated.…

For my part, what I will be most grateful for in this decision should it end up also being applied in Spain is the possibility of being able to access HBO Max from the Fire Tv Stick, that I refuse to resort to that only trick that there is to achieve it. Beyond that I don’t see any kind of revolution here, really.
