Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness presents a new facet of Wanda, in her power and personality, Elizabeth Olsen told us about it.
Since January 2021, the weight of the MCU falls on Scarlet Witch, from starting the successful series of Marvel Studios for Disney +, to placing himself as a presence at the height of the Sorcerer Supreme for his new cinematographic adventure. A stage also characterized by an emotional journey for Wanda Maximoff full of losses, tears and an unexpected growing power that will reach its peak in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Elizabeth Olsen told us about it.
During a press conference with international media, the actress addressed the process her character has gone through since her debut in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron (we didn’t take into account the post-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier). , with challenges even as great as mastering different types of television comedy to lead to melodrama and action.
Olsen commented, “In the films before WandaVision, I took a storytelling path that was more about honesty, love, loss, and pain. With WandaVision, I was able to become anything and everything, and really grow her as a woman, getting her to accept that she is this mythical woman and that is her destiny. I hope that, in this movie, people see that continuation of her acceptance of who she is and the journey that she’s made of herself to get to this moment. I feel like she has a lot more clarity now than she ever has, in this movie.”

Is it possible that Wanda brings something more as a character to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after WandaVision?
Elizabeth also talked about new aspects that we hadn’t seen in Wanda that will appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: “I feel like we explored something that I hadn’t been able to find in the character yet. It’s really about this clarity and this confidence. I think she’s learned a lot and has a sense of confidence that we haven’t seen from her yet.”
Finally, it was discussed how superhero movies portray the great power of superheroes, being that they are also the cause of their greatest tragedies. Elizabeth responded on what is the most exciting part of taking advantage of that with Scarlet Witch and introducing a hero who is still discovering his limits and the consequences of his powers:
“My biggest goal for everything is to advocate for my character and defend, defend, defend. Whether it’s his biggest strength or his biggest weakness, wherever he’s coming from or whatever he’s processing, my goal is just to defend his perspective. I don’t necessarily think of things as weaknesses. I don’t think we look at ourselves and say, Well, this is a strength of mine. Yes it is constantly processing, and I enjoy it. In WandaVision, and in all the films that I have done, she is constantly in this line. Usually her biggest loss or mourning is when something is born. That has been the trend. I think this movie goes deeper into that, which makes me happy.”
