The movements derived from Warner Bros. Discovery’s new strategy for DC Comics films would have frustrated Walter Hamada’s plan to bring Crisis on Infinite Earths to the cinema
The cancellation of Batgirl moved the atmosphere within DC Comics, which would cause the departure of Walter Hamada from the film division of the publisher, who planned to pave the way to adapt one of the most influential stories of all time: Crisis in Infinite Earths.

In 1985 and 1986 Marv Wolfman and George Perez presented their magnum opus for DC Comics. An ambitious crossover would restart the continuity of characters like Superman and Wonder Woman. It would also integrate characters from different publishers that were acquired by DC Comics.
This event was adapted in the different series of the Arrowverse between 2019 and 2020, throughout five episodes, including elements of DC’s film and television history, such as Brandon Routh as Superman, Ezra Miller’s cameo as Flash and appearances as that of Burt Ward, the Robin of the series of the 60s.
Walter Hamada’s plans for Crisis on Infinite Earths
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that with the restructuring of DC Comics that began in 2018, after the premiere of Justice League, Walter Hamada outlined a plan that would lead DC Films to produce the adaptation of Crisis on Infinite Earths.
In this adaptation of the work of Marv Wolfman and George Perez, Hamada wanted the television series and the DCEU tapes to come together. Which would lead to a possible reboot of the film franchises.
With the cancellation of Batgirl by the board of Warner Bros. Discovery, headed by David Zaslav, Walter Hamada had tendered his resignation from the company, but executives talked him out of taking a rash action.
Sources close to Warner Bros. Discovery consulted by media such as The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that Walter Hamada will remain as president of DC Films, at least until October 21, 2022, the date on which Black Adam will hit theaters.
