Netflix does not stop recruiting Latin talent, and this time “Cobra Kai” will not be the exception. The fourth season concludes with the departure of “Miguel” (Xolo Maridueña), in the trailer for the fifth installment it is known that he went to Mexico in search of his father “Héctor Sálazar”, a man played by Puerto Rican Luis Roberto Guzmán , who debuts in Hollywood with this project.
“The first challenge was the language, because being on an English-speaking set is not easy, but in the end it reconnected me with understanding why I am here, many times in life we overlook things or take them for granted. And in this case it reminded me of my love for standing on a set.”said the actor who has built a long career in Mexico.
Guzmán came to this Netflix project almost by chance, since he did not audition, only his agent from the neighboring country to the north presented some work he had done to the production, a weekend later he was called to shoot the scenes in September and December of last year.
“It was an atypical process, especially at this time when things have changed a lot. And so nothing. What it is, it is and what it touches, touches and I really feel very grateful and privileged to belong to this story that, in the end, is deeply rooted in different generations”.

He knew the tapes, but he had to watch all the seasons to better understand his character’s DNA, then, helped by the script, he gave life to a tough man who will show the reasons why he abandoned “Miguel”.
“He’s a guy who’s straddling the line of good and evil, and a bit of a mystery. But you can understand according to his speech, why he left his family, since he recounts the things that made him flee, that although it is not judged if he did right or wrong, if it will be something with which the Latin American public will identify more.LUIS ROBERTO GUZMAN
Regarding the coexistence with Maridueña, he assured that everything flowed with respect and professionalism, just like with the staff and the rest of the cast. He hopes that this will be an opportunity to reach larger productions in the United States and Mexico. Although he had already shot “Narcos”, this was his first project spoken in another language.
