For years, many initiatives and different vegan groups have tried to send a message to the rest of the population regarding the consumption of animal protein. For them, it is very important that everyone begins to care about the life of animals, which is always at risk of being consumed by humans.
The protests have not made an immediate change, however, the increase in vegans has been evident, in addition to completely changing their lifestyle. Social networks, for example, have been a great platform to be more effective in raising awareness of protein consumption.
A couple of years ago, the story of a group of vegan activists who organized a funeral for meat from a supermarket went viral. ‘Ur Vegan Gal Pals’ made an intervention in the establishment and they did it, placing roses between the showcases and freezers that exhibit the different cuts of meat.
The association operates in the Orlando and Detroit areas and has been in charge of constantly exposing its disagreement with the lack of awareness of the treatment of different species, as well as in claiming animal liberation.
According to information from the local media and the videos that were recorded at the time, the activists entered the place dressed in black, then put flowers and candles to stand for several minutes next to the meat.
With several messages they tried to attract the attention of the rest of the clients: «’all animals want to live’, ‘Rest in peace'”. At the end of their obvious protest, the supermarket managers politely asked them to leave.
Veganism is more than a trend in today’s society, in recent years it has become a kind of lifestyle that has reached high levels of “followers”.
In fact, and contrary to what many think, there are more and more vegan options in stores or restaurants, which already include a variety of food options that do not have animal origin on their menus.
The entry Vegan activists organize a funeral for the meat of a supermarket: “it’s not food, it’s violence” was first published in The voice of the wall.
