As expected, after the success of the series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story many people have romanticized the serial killer, so it didn’t take long for them to show more empathy for him than for the victims. However, this phenomenon is not new, since the effect of admiration and obsession caused by this type of criminal is more common than you think.
Just as it happened in the 1990s, after the horrible acts of the “Milwaukee Cannibal” became known, people who glorified him as a celebrity and many others who said they were in love with him came to light. Everything indicates that individuals who present these behaviors may suffer from behavioral disorders or syndromes.
This is why many users are disgusted by the fame that Dahmer has gained again so much that Halloween was brought forward a few weeks to raise awareness about how sick it is to choose a serial killer as a costume for the celebration.
The statements have circulated through Twitter, where we can see the concern of many people, including their desire to stop the fury that the Netflix series has caused.
Since it’s officially October I feel like people need to be reminded that serial killers are not halloween costumes, no one wants to see your skinny blonde boyfriend dressed as Jeffery Dahmer. Real people were and still are effected. Victims trauma is not your halloween costume.

Since it’s officially October, I feel like people need to be reminded that serial killers are not Halloween costumes. No one wants to see your skinny white boyfriend dressed like Jeffrey Dahmer. Real people were and continue to be affected. The trauma of the victims is not a disguise.
The constant lack of remorse for Dahmers victims on social media makes me believe many people are going to dress as Jeffery Dahmer and his victims for Halloween and that is so sick.

The constant lack of remorse for Dahmer’s victims on social media makes me believe a lot of people are going to dress up as him and his victims for Halloween, and that’s sick.
Although the posts were mostly filled with supportive comments, some others are downright nasty. Unfortunately, the tone of mockery and defiance was the most used:
‘I’ll dress up as him just to annoy you’; ‘Then I guess you’ll have to find me and stop me, because Dahmer is my idol’; ‘People can dress up as they want and you can’t do anything about it.’
It only remains to say that empathy is a value that should not be broken so easily in the face of modern trends, so consider a costume of the style true crime just for a bit of “fame” is really terrible.
