Ever since Cary Joji Fukunaga put the finishing touch to Daniel Craig’s stage as agent 007 in the fantastic ‘No Time to Die’, the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson continue to be immersed in the eternal and complicated search for a replacement. At the moment, it is still unsuccessful, but this does not mean that things are not diametrically clear.
No room for yoghurts
As reported by the Deadline medium, although the casting of a new James Bond continues in the process without a clear candidate to gain the status of double zero, Wilson has completely ruled out that the replacement will be a younger performer. with which to somehow revitalize the franchise.
so it has explained as part of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of James Bond at London’s British Film Institute:
“We’ve tried to look for young people in the past. But trying to visualize it doesn’t work. Remember, Bond is already a veteran. He’s had some experience. He’s a person who’s already worn out, so to speak. He’s probably been in the SAS or something like that. He’s not a high school kid you can bring in to start from scratch. That’s why it works for a 30-something.”
With the age factor clarified by the producer, it should be remembered that at the end of last June, Broccoli claimed to be “reinventing who” James Bond is for future installments of the saga, starting with ‘Bond 26’; a process that it will take a time that, at least, would extend over two years.
What will they mean by that reinvention once the prequel angle has been ruled out? Only time will tell, so for now, we can only dream of our favorite candidate to wear the 007 suit, either Henry CavillTom HiddlestonTom Hardy or the favorite of the Russo brothers, Rege-Jean Page.
