Since it was announced a few months ago, ‘Red Queen‘ has become one of the most anticipated adaptations of Spanish fiction for the near future. Amazon Prime Video is preparing a series based on the successful novel by Juan Gomez-Jurado and let’s review everything we know.
The history
As we can imagine, ‘Red Queen’ towill adapt the first novel of the Gómez-Jurado trilogy, which is completed with ‘Loba Negra’ and ‘Rey Blanco’. In the center is Antonia, the smartest person on Earth, who for years has become the “Red Queen” of a police project, solving crimes along the way. Years after a self-imposed exile, a grotesque murder will reactivate the expert once again.
According to the official synopsis:
With an IQ of 242, Antonia Scott is officially the smartest person on Earth. Her intelligence earned her the chance to become the “Red Queen” of a secret and experimental police project, but what seemed like a gift turned into a curse, and she ended up losing everything. When the son of a powerful tycoon is found grotesquely murdered in her mansion, and the daughter of the richest man in Spain is kidnapped, the Red Queen organization is launched. Mentor, Antonia’s former boss, turns to Jon Gutiérrez, a temperamental Basque police officer about to be expelled from the force, to revive Antonia. The twisted game of cat and mouse in which Jon and Antonia find themselves involved during their investigation will also help them discover that they admire and complement each other almost as much as they annoy each other..
The cast
Vicky Luengo and Hovik Keuchkerian (‘Anti-riot’) are in charge of starring in ‘Reina Roja’, with the former playing Antonia Scott and the latter Jon Gutierrez. In Vicki’s words:
“Antonia Scott has one of the most fascinating minds I have ever read. From the moment I started to know her story, she caught me by her light and the complexity of her. I’m looking forward to learning how to deal with monkeys from her.”
The main cast is completed with Alex Brendemuhl as Mentor, Nacho Fresneda like Ezequiel, the dark assassin, Urko Olazabal like Inspector Parra, Emma Suarez as Laura Trueba, mother of Ezequiel’s first victim and Selam Ortega as Ladybug, who will become Antonia’s accomplice.

The good news is that Prime Video announced the Thursday August 18 that filming has already started of ‘Red Queen’ in Madrid. Along with the news, we have also learned that Koldo Serra is in charge of directing this fiction.
Amaya Muruzabal Y Salvador Perpignan They are in charge of the script, with the first acting as showrunner. On the other hand, Gómez-Jurado participates as a consultant.
Premiere
Amazon Prime Video has announced that we will be able to see the adaptation of ‘Red Queen’ sometime in 2023.

At the moment we do not have a trailer for the series. Yes, we have some other images of the shooting which gives us a very first but scant impression of what we will find in ‘Reina Roja’.
