Is there a better way for Mickey and Minnie Mouse to celebrate their birthday than with a new house? Well, the truth is that it is more than a house, it is a whole town, the Toontown in Anaheim Disneyland Park.
The long-awaited attraction, which honors Disneyland’s most spoiled couple, will finally reopen its doors this Sunday after an extensive and ambitious renovation that includes new experiences that will give more opportunities for families and their children to play together inside the park.
Something that visitors will be able to enjoy in this new area are open and green spaces. The first thing fans will see when they arrive in Tootown will be CenTOONial Park, which will be anchored by two new experiences, a fountain with water tables designed for users to have a sensory experience, and a tree with sculpted roots that younger children they can explore.
Toontown is also home to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, an attraction inside the CapiTOON Theater that opened in January, when the Disney 100 celebration kicked off. This ultra-modern experience takes guests on a ride through a cartoon world of Mickey and Minnie on a train whose engineer is none other than Goofy.
Speaking of Goofy, this character also has a place erected in his honor, Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard, which incorporates a sound garden where children will discover new ways to make sounds. Also there is the new Goofy House, an interactive attraction where you will learn the gadgets to make sweets as only Goofy knows how.
Another part of Toontown is Donald’s Boat, which sits in the Goof Farm’s duck pond. At Donald’s Duck Pond there are giant flowers that spout water, balance beams and bobbing games.
For the more experienced there is the Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster, a roller coaster for the smallest visitors, while at Mickey’s House and Minnie’s House, guests can go on a tour where they will discover surprises In every room.
Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin is back, with Lenny the taxi driving through the streets and alleys of Toontown while following the adventures of Roger Rabbit.
The new space also has places to eat, such as Café Daisy, where Daisy Duck designed a menu with classic foods. And the Good Boy Farmers Market! Grocers, a mobile stand offering snacks and beverages to go.
