Through a statement on his Twitter account, Mauricio announced that on January 26, 2023, there was a hearing that his alleged attacker did not attend, only his lawyers. In addition, he stressed that Toño has not faced this situation personally at any time, which is why a summons was issued that will take place on February 13 and if he does not appear, an arrest warrant will be issued against him.
On March 9, 2022, Mauricio publicly recounted the harassment of which he was a victim at the hands of Toño Berumen. The actor wrote that he had gone to his office, which was also his house, to talk about a record contract, since he knew that Toño was recognized in the media. Everything was going well in the interview until he wanted to go to the bathroom and then he panicked when he realized that he had a camera pointed at the shower. After leaving the bathroom, everything escalated very quickly.

In addition to this, he assured that he knows many stories of people who have worked with him and who have been sexually harassed. However, media pressure often causes them to remain silent out of fear or because they think they will not be believed, which is why the abusers continue to do so.
Finally, Mauricio said that he did not want to and was not going to talk more about the subject or give more statements, but he went to the corresponding institutions to present his complaint. Furthermore, he said that by going public, he hoped to help other victims to be encouraged to break the silence and also asked people to believe the victims.
