for some time Tom Cruise expressed his desire to work on a movie whose scenes would be shot in space, but his plans were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now he is working with the director Doug Liman in the script of a film that, if made, would have scenes in which the actor would appear on the International Space Station.
Cruise and Liman presented their ideas to the company Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG)and its director, donna langleycommented to BBCNews: “I believe that Tom Cruise is taking us into space. This is the plan. We have a big project in development with Tom, taking a rocket to the Space Station and filming there.”
Notably the vast majority of the movie’s scenes would be filmed on Earthbut certain sequences in which the character would go to outer space would turn Tom Cruise into the first movie star to appear (without special effects) on said station. For now, he stars in the most successful film of the year worldwide (“Top Gun: Maverick”) and his next film –“Mission: Impossible: Dead Reconnaissance Part One”– will be released in the United States on July 14, 2023.
