It arrived on Netflix on July 29, but between so much content, the long days at the beach and the endless after-dinner conversations with friends, it really went unnoticed by me. I put it on a long list of “series to watch” until this weekend I finally decided to give it a try and the first thing I thought was “why haven’t I discovered it before?”
Lorenzo Ferro, Dollar Selmouni, Carlota Urdiales, Eva Almeida and Fernando Valdivielso are the protagonists of this Netflix miniseries that in addition to being addictive, original and fresh, has a surprise: bad gyal.
The series we are talking about is Fanatica proposal with five short episodes ideal for a marathon weekend and that has already conquered us, although it has taken from our heads the idea of being rising music stars.
Fanaticthe Netflix surprise
Directed by Roger Gual, who was also in charge of episodes of the wire girls and the fantastic The mess you leavethe series of Fanatic It has crept into our heads like the great song of the summer. She creeps in until you just hear her chorus over and over again.
At the head of the cast is the actor, singer and composer Lorenzo Ferro, aka Kiddo Toto (perhaps it sounds more like this session with Bizarrap), who plays Salva and Lázaro, the two versions of Chimera, and who is fantastic in both roles. But wait, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Take a look at the trailer first so you understand what you are going to find:
It all starts when Salva, a musical idol named Chimera, commits suicide in front of his fans at the first concert of his world tour. Lazaro, who until then was just a food delivery man and an unconditional fan of the artist, overnight became the singer thanks to his great physical resemblance. He adopts his image, his music, his life and his fans. But the pressure that took Salva ahead threatens Lazaro, who turns all aspects of his life into a spectacle.
It’s not just a series about music And success, “Fanatic It talks about the need for human series to be remembered, about the feeling that you have to “be someone” and about the current obsession with recognition and the culture of “likes”, in the words of the director himself.
“Fame costs and this is where you are going to start paying”, seems to ooze every minute of the series as if she were Miss Lidya Grant in the High School for the Performing Arts. And it is just that extreme sacrifice of what the series is about. From the most absolute capitalism, from the tyranny of “I like it” and from the culture of success that takes authenticity ahead and leaves only the posture and the facade. It is a series about social networks that makes us ask ourselves if it is a digital stop is necessary and that uses the trap to transmit a reflection message.
It is a fiction that knows how to engage and that tells the story in a new way that goes deeper. And as a bonus it has the cameo of the wonderful Bad Gyal, so yes, I have fallen for this addictive series that has lasted me a silly afternoon. Although yes, becoming a trap star is a dream that after watching the series, has completely vanished, no matter how cool C. Tangana.
