Several generations of Mexicans woke up every Sunday with the program ‘En Familia con Chabelo’, a broadcast of contests that for 48 years entertained children and not so children through several hours of great fun. It was headed by Xavier López, better known as ‘Chabelo’, who lost his life on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
The first broadcast was released on November 26, 1967, while the last one was produced on December 20, 2015, leaving a big gap in the ‘cuates’ and in the ‘province mates’, who eagerly awaited the Sundays to wake up with their fun games and their recommendations for the most popular toys, the avalanche being their hallmark.
The program, which was broadcast through Las Estrellas de Televisa, was recorded in one of the forums located in the television station’s facilities in the San Ángel area.
The place had the capacity to receive more than 100 people from the public, who had to do an odyssey or wait to be given courtesies to fulfill their dream of witnessing the liked show from the stands and, in one of those, even competing and entering the the famous cataphyxia
In addition to having several rows of stands, the famous forum 2 drew attention for its colorful scenery and for having more than enough space for the participants to carry out all kinds of tests.
Although the public was the real protagonist of the broadcast, musical groups were frequently invited, who left their presentation recorded, so the audience did not witness them, but they acted as if everything was really live, but it was not.
