88 kilometers from the center of Madrid there is a haven of peace that hides the mountains of Madrid and that in autumn and winter seems to come out of a fairy tale. The reddish, ocher and brown colors intermingle in a beech forest, becoming the perfect setting to disconnect.
In the middle of a mountainous terrain stretches Montejo de la Sierra, a small town in the middle of the Sierra del Rincón that invites us to lose ourselves among beeches and century-old oaks.

The town of Montejo de la Sierra itself has many places of interest to visit. Monuments that invite us to get lost in its quiet streets such as the church of San Pedro In Cathedra in the center of town, dedicated to the Apostle San Pedro and in Baroque style.
The Fuente de los Tres Caños in the Plazuela, which was built in the 19th century and was inaugurated by Clara Campoamor; and the Fuente del Arriero, the oldest, are two other obligatory points of passage if we visit Montejo de la Sierra.

The Ermita de la Soledad, built in the 16th century, or the Ermita de Nazaret from which you can see the entire valley, are ideal places to learn more about the history of this town in the Sierra de Madrid.
There are different green paths to explore Montejo de la Sierraand being within the Sierra del Rincón Biosphere Reserve, Montejo de la Sierra has a great natural biodiversitybut if there is something that makes you especially fall in love with this little town, it is its beech forest.

Hayedo de Montejo, a place to disconnect
In 2017 UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site and this lung in the Madrid mountains is everything that any nature lover wants.

The Hayedo de Montejo has an area of 222 hectares and is a magical place. A unique enclave that is the only beech forest in the region and one of the southernmost in Europe.
Visits to the Hayedo de Montejo, Biosphere Reserve, are restricted and we need prior accreditation that we can get on the page the Sierra del Rincon.

A place full of color and undeniable beauty, in which to practice hiking while we enjoy a fairytale forest an hour from Madrid.
