In fact, this week, Meta will already start testing its own subscription service that will allow Instagram and Facebook users to pay to be verified. It has been confirmed by Mark Zuckerberg himself.
It will be called “Meta Verified” and will begin to be implemented these days in Australia and New Zealand and “soon in more countries”, as announced in a statement.

Although there will be no change to accounts that are already verified as part of their old strategy to confirm that certain users are “authentic and notable”, their managers justify the need for the new service as a way of “increase authenticity and security.”
And it is that, to avoid false accounts, customers who wish to obtain the blue badge will have to provide an official identification that matches their profile name and photo. In addition, of course, to pay a monthly fee of US$11.99 or US$14.99 for iOS subscribers.
The only requirement to choose to get the, until now, so precious blue tick is to be over 18 years old. The service, in addition to the distinction provided by the badge, comes with other advantages such as: added protection against phishing accounts and direct access to customer service.
