In recent days they inaugurated the first Hotel for Dogs and Cats homeless in Mexico City that seeks to reduce the percentage of animals that roam the streets. The property was built on vacant land, where the neighbors used to use it as a garbage dump, located in the Tepito neighborhood.
The mayor of the Cuauhtémoc delegation, Sandra Cuevas, was present during the inauguration event and explained that they seek to eradicate the problem of animal abuse in the city and that pets have a safe place to live.
“The idea is that there is no more mistreatment of animals and that those who live on the streets, who are abandoned, have a safe and comfortable place, where they are also given the option of being adopted by a family,” said Cuevas.
Sandra Cuevas also asks families who no longer have the financial resources and space for their pets in their home, they can take them to the hotel without anguish and they will be received and cared for by the specialized staff of the Hotel for Abandoned Dogs and Cats.
“They can bring them here to look for a family. It is better for them to be brought here than to be left tied up somewhere for someone to find,” she explained.
It is located in the Morelos neighborhood and will have the support of animal activists and defenders. In addition, the Cuauhtémoc, Miguel Hidalgo and Cuajimalpa mayors will work together so that this project goes ahead; These last municipalities will provide cremation and veterinary services at no cost.
