After a few months of hiatus after closing his most recent arc, we already know when the manga of ‘Dragon Ball Super’ and that he will also do it with a new bow. Many fans expected the plot to pick up more or less where the last few pages left us and to further explore the bombshell that Black Freeza has been… but it seems that Toyotaro and Toriyama they have other plans.
The new arc of the manga takes us back to earth, with older Goten and Trunks begin their training to become superheroes. These new chapters will initially serve to introduce the plot of ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’, and we can now get a better idea of how the continuity of the entire series remains.
Squaring all the events
Before the premiere of the most recent film in the franchise, we were already able to make a small sketch of where each event falls in the timeline of the series. The anime ended in 2018 closing the Tournament of Power saga, and since then the manga has continued its course with two more arcs.
So, fine-tuning the chronology, we would first have the entire ‘Dragon Ball Super’ anime up to chapter 131 and then we could continue with ‘Dragon Ball Super: Broly’.
From this point would come the events of the manga with the saga of the Prisoners of the Galactic Patrol, and dLater we came across a small continuity issue that could be resolved with the new arc of the manga.
‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’ takes place after the Moro Arc, but occurs before the Granolah Survivor saga, so the new arc of the manga could be in charge of “filling in” the gaps of what is happening on Earth while Goku and Vegeta train with Beerus and Whis.
For now there are not many more details about this ‘Super Hero’ Arc, but it is very possible that it takes place in a more or less parallel way to the saga of the Granolah Survivor, giving more prominence to the other characters and going through some more enemies on the street. Although in theory it will also serve to introduce the events of the film… so there may be a small time jump. So the chronology of ‘Dragon Ball Super’ would stay more or less like this:
- Complete anime series of ‘Dragon Ball Super/Manga of ‘Dragon Ball Super’ up to chapter 42.
- The movie ‘Dragon Ball Super: Broly’
- Saga of the Prisoners of the Galactic Patrol, until chapter 67 of the manga.
- New ‘Super Hero’ arc of the manga, which could also develop parallel to the Granolah Saga.
- The movie ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’.
- Granolah Survivor Saga, until chapter 87 of the manga.
In this way, all the plots of the manga and the canon films would remain more or less united and ordered in order to continue expanding the future of the franchise. Many reports suggest that there is already a new anime underway, so perhaps we will soon be able to see the arcs that are yet to be adapted in series format and have new material in sight.
