There are times in life that friends have to tell us to stop to get us out of a loop, but it seems that there are people with whom the message does not work, and Kanye West is the perfect example of it.
After GAP ended the contract with the rapper, after his “white lives matter” went viral (if you missed the one he messed up at his show in Paris, Take a look at this) or of harassment to which he subjected Pete Davidsonto tell you just a few, Kanye West continues to add controversy and does not seem willing to stop. The last one is with Quentin Tarantinoalthough it is hard to believe, and the director has already answered him.
What do Kanye West and Quentin Tarantino have in common?
Beyond the fact that both are artists and that unites them, each one in their sector, the two have been united by a new controversy. In an interview with Piers Morgan, Kanye West had no hesitation in stating that Tarantino and Foxx stole the idea from him. Django: Unchained.
Let’s put ourselves in context: Kanye West calls Jamie Foxx and Quentin Tarantino in 2005 to participate in the video clip of his song “Gold Digger”, all in Kanye’s own words, Sure. During the recording in which she collaborated with Jamie Foxx, West claims that he proposed to both him and Tarantino the idea of a video clip centered on the theme of slavery. for his song, though it obviously wasn’t performed:
In his own words, “I pitched the idea for ‘Django’ to Jamie Foxx and Quentin Tarantino as the video for ‘Gold Digger, and then Tarantino turned it into a movie.” According to Kanye West, Tarantino stole the idea to make the movie with Jamie Foxx as protagonist.
Quentin Tarantino’s response to Kanye West
Now the director has had the opportunity to respond to him on the Jimmy Kimmel show where he went to present his new book Cinema Speculation, an essay on cinema Kimmel asked West about it and Tarantino did not hesitate to respond to the plagiarism accusations.
“There’s nothing true in the statement that Kanye West was the one who came up with the idea for Django, then he told me about it and I was like, ‘Hey, what a great idea. I’m going to take Kanye’s idea and do Django Unchained‘. That never happened.” And he added that the two met because West wanted to make a movie about his album. The College Dropout, and how he had pulled it off. “It occurred to me to do Django long before I met Kanye West,” he added.
