Information accuses Marvel Studios of having “destroyed” the footage of Thor: Love and Thunder with a demand on the duration of the film.
According to journalist Joanna Robinson of the podcast The Ringer-Versethe highest executives of Marvel Studios they demanded Taika Waititidirector of Thor: Love and Thunder, which was to keep the film’s length under two hours. It didn’t matter how much material was recorded or the coherence of the script itself. The tape was supposed to last less than two hours. That means the studio cut out and restricted a lot of scenes that could have made it into the movie. God of Thunder.
“Taika Waititi didn’t have a blank canvas to do whatever he wanted with Thor: Love and Thunder. Absolutely. He had more freedom of action than in Ragnarok, but they also demanded from above that the film should last less than two hours. The feature film, finally, had less than two hours. But they cut a ton of stuff from this fourth installment of the Marvel Studios hero.”
A lot of footage was removed as demanded by the higher ups
Joanna Robinson also explained that a lot of things were cut due to this length restriction. Thor: Love and Thunder sued by Marvel Studios. The requirement harmed the development of the story and even “destroyed” the appearances of some characters. It has been revealed that there were several sequences where we saw Gorr the Butcher of Gods kill a bunch of people, thus causing a greater impact of his power on the spectators.
“It’s common knowledge that Taika Waititi is not a big fan of director’s cuts. We know that Jeff Goldblum, Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey were going to be in Thor: Love and Thunder. Also Simon Russell Beale appeared as Dionysus and had a couple of lines in this movie. There should have been a lot more of Marvel Studios in the film. We were definitely supposed to see Gorr come in and kill off a bunch of characters.”
