It seems that the surprises due to the change of directors of DC Studios do not end, because since Peter Safran and James Gunn were announced as the new bosses, we have found out everything that we do not believe.
Like when they announced that they will not require Henry Cavill in the character of Superman or that the project of Wonder Woman 3. Now it was her turn to Black Adam 2as both the DC Studios board and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson himself have announced that they will not go ahead with the sequel.
The future of DC Studios is uncertain, since they do not finish recovering from a box office failure when they are already facing another and, apparently, this is the reason why they have decided to cancel the sequel to Black Adam.
According to rough numbers, the film grossed around $384 million, but, with all the production costs and promotional campaign expenses, it should have raked in around $600 million in earnings to be considered successful. In an extensive statement, the protagonist of the film expressed his feelings about this news.

My passionate friends, I wanted to give you that long-awaited update on the future of the Black Adam character in the new DC Universe. James Gunn and I hooked up and Black Adam won’t be in his first storytelling chapter. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the more valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future chapters of DC’s multiverse.
James and I have known each other for years and have always supported each other to succeed. It’s no different now and I will always support DC (and Marvel) to win and win big… These decisions made by James and DC’s leadership represent their vision of the DCU through his creative lens.
For his part, James Gunn took advantage of the statement from “The Rock” to express his appreciation and express that he hopes that they will be able to work together again very soon.
Sees it @TheRock & I’m always excited to see what he & Seven Bucks do next. Can’t wait to collaborate soon. 🙏 https://t.co/NLwRqBVkd1
