One of the complaints of many fans towards the television series moon knight is that it is too independent and hardly makes references to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In a recent interview, the director Muhammad Diab confirmed that, in early drafts of the series’ script, two major crossovers with the MCU were included, but were cut in favor of the overall story.
I want to tell you that in the first scene there was a crossover, and in the last scene there was a crossover. But as the story unfolded and we kept changing the scripts, we felt ‘We don’t need this.’ It was a collective decision. And then we kept thinking that it was a rule. There has to be a scene at the end that connects us to the MCU. But I think they decided, ‘You know what? The surprise would be if there wasn’t, and what’s going to make this series unique is that it doesn’t need anything else.’
I feel like we were successful in bringing Marvel more into our corner. So I am proud and happy.
