Like any self-respecting phenomenon, the adaptation to the small screen of ‘The Last of Us’ has been accompanied, practically from its beginning to its fantastic end, by a good number of controversies. After review bombings of homophobic tint, fillers that weren’t such a thing, and CGI giraffes that turned out to be real, with the church we have come across.
The anti-Christian Hollywood
On March 11, the actor rainn wilsonknown for his role as Dwight in ‘The Office’ and for having starred in that gem that is ‘Super’ by James Gunn, published a tweet in which criticized an alleged anti-Christian tendency based in Hollywood and that he would have found his last reflection in the adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game for HBO. In it, you can read the following.
“I think there’s an anti-Christian bias in Hollywood. As soon as David’s character in ‘The Last of Us’ started reading the bible I knew he was going to be a creepy villain. Could there be a bible-reading pastor on a show? who is kind and a good person?”
The message of Wilson alludes to David, who is probably the most remembered villain —for bad— in the game and Ellie’s mortal enemy in the eighth chapter of her cathodic version. A leader of a community settled in Silver Lake with certain obsession with reciting the sacred scriptures to keep his parishioners under his yoke between appetizers of human flesh.
Here’s a couple of funny things about the anti-Christian bias in Hollywood. My opinion tweet was picked up as front page news by @FoxNews. Talk about bias. An organization created as a corporate shill to create division solely for profit based on culture-war outrage. Print that!

As it could not be less in the post-truth era, Fox News decided to take the actor’s tweet and place it on the cover of its news section; something that Wilson did not like too much, that charged into the middle hard in another message on Elon Musk’s platform.
“A couple of funny things about the anti-Christian trend in Hollywood. My opining tweet was used as a front page on Fox News. Talk about bias. An organization created as a corporate shill to create division solely for profit based on anger generated by the culture war. Print that!”
To top it off, a third twist: Wilson is not even a Christian and he recognizes that some of the sectors of American Christianity are being harmful to the nation, but that does not mean that he is not asking for a more benevolent representation. Because #NotAllChristians.
“Besides, I’m not even a Christian. Of course it’s true that the evangelical-political coalition is doing great harm to our country. Banning books – banning liberties -, denying inconvenient scientific evidence, creating a grotesque anti-LGBTQ+ platform… But the Most Christians I know are kind, tolerant, and seek to make the world a better place. They should also be honored in the media.”
It’s about time a remake of ‘Seven in Paradise’.
