Fashion lovers are in luck. Today Zara has surprised us with a very special collaboration: a sophisticated collection with Narciso Rodriguez. Yes, Marta Ortega has revolutionized the world of fashion, specifically Zara, with this collaboration that is one of the surprises of the year.
It is the first time that the Inditex Group firm has collaborated with a designer of ready-to-wear, and the result is sublime. Of course, we have to wait until tomorrow until we can get hold of one of his garments.
Narciso Rodriguez recovers some of his most iconic pieces, all extracted from his archive, which show that good design endures. Specifically, this collection is made up of 25 clothes and shoes that are pure fantasy.
“My strength is my fabrics, my workshops, my hands,” explains the American designer. “This has been an amazing experience for me. It’s been great to go back through the archive and see again the things we loved. It’s also amazing to see these pieces through the eyes of the Zara design team. Working with them has meant an eye-opening experience, because everyone is very aware of what is happening in the world and in fashion,” adds the creator.
The Narciso Rodriguez x Zara collection evidences both his keen sense of architecture and the intimacy he established with the body. What made a Rodriguez dress so sexy was not that it was tight, but that under that dress, the body always remained free.
Narciso Rodriguez represents one of the main exponents of minimalism in fashion and this is evident in these wonderful designs. In the collection we can find jumpsuits, long dresses, satin bodies, maxi skirts… garments in black and white as main colors, but also with a touch of color.
The designer makes special mention of this satin dress, a slip design “that has a bias cut and interesting seams that reflects what people think of when they think of my brand, that everything flows over the body.”
With a professional career of more than 30 years, Narciso Rodriguez represents one of the main exponents of minimalism in fashion. His best-known design in 1996 was the wedding dress he made for his friend Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, a lingerie dress so dazzlingly simple at the same time that it generated a transformation in the aesthetics around wedding dresses, and that remains a contemporary icon.
His sober style is unique, and now, with this wonderful collection, many of you have at your fingertips the power to have “a Narciso Rodríguez”. The price of the designs does not exceed 250 euros (a coat of which we still do not have an image is the most expensive garment) and the price of the shoes is 99 euros.
Precisely the designer comments on this double-faced black wool double-breasted coat with side slits and a leather belt, which is “extraordinary and resounding”
The protagonist of these images is the Russian model Natalia Vodiánova.
We cannot forget a detail. The dress that Marta Ortega wore at her first Shareholders’ Meeting, an off-white design with a V-neckline and cut oversized and will also be available in this collection.
