What a year for ‘The Witcher’, huh? What began as a glorious walk across the Continent a few years ago has become a stony and impassable road. First it was the farewell of Henry Cavill, replaced by Liam Hemsworth. After, the growing anger of the fans with the liberties that were taken in season 2.
Finally, Beau DeMayo, a former writer of the series, stated that, among the creators, everyone laughed at the source material. The fans, already annoyed with the Netflix production, have decided to follow this narrative (because it suits them) and there is nothing that current writers can do to avoid it… no matter how hard they try.
Toss a hate to your Netflix
Not a few have tried close ranks around Lauren S. Hissrichthe showrunner, but perhaps the most direct has been Matthew D’Ambrosio, who after sharing part of his work On twitter He received all kinds of criticism and insults from the fan base.
It’s really cool and funny trying to talk about how much you love your job and then having answers like this because some asshole you used to work with has made up a bunch of lies for the fans trying to cover up that he got fired for being an asshole, and Now that’s the narrative. It sucks to see hard work falter for a shitty narrative. I played the games before I read the books AND THEN I got the chance to work on the kind of series I’ve always wanted to be in. And you know what? It’s still a dream job!
Javier Grillo-Marxuach has been more stylish stating that “Lauren is one of the best showrunners I’ve ever met.the writers are among the most dedicated and supportive, season 3 has Cavill’s (and ours) best work, and what comes next will make people’s heads explode!” Later, he comments to a user that “the rumors are false, i was there every day in season 3 and experienced a great workplace, no hate for the original material“.
Finally, Troy Dangerfield, another of those in charge of the script for ‘The Witcher’, has spoken in this tone: “I LOVE the fabulous world of ‘The Witcher’ and the books created by Sapkowski. The dedication and herculean work done by Lauren S. Hissrich is impossible to measure. I have never worked for such a talented and caring boss. I am hallucinating with season 3 and excited for the ones to come.” It must be said that, seeing the responses, the team of the series has a lot left to convince the fans.
For now, ‘The Witcher’ returns with ‘The Origin of Blood’ on December 25th before the premiere of season 3 in the summer of 2023. We will see if, by then, the waters are calmer or the Continent will roar with fury again.
