Searching for your next job
What would you think if someone told you that your next job application will be decided by an artificial intelligence? It’s not science fiction, but an increasingly common practice among human resources departments at large companies, which turn to technologies designed to find the ideal candidates for specific positions. This practice has not been without controversy, as many insist that machines are incapable of measuring human factors such as empathy, responsibility and teamwork. The future will tell who was right.
More immersive gaming
Every gamer knows that a good video game is more than the adventure itself and depends to a large extent on the interaction with the entire environment that surrounds the story.. This includes NPCs (non-playable characters), who can range from isolated individuals to rivals to defeat within the plot, and who are instrumental in shaping the hero’s journey. In an effort to prevent the different titles from becoming repetitive, the industry has turned to artificial intelligence to develop increasingly sophisticated and attractive elements for the target audience, with NPCs being one of the most worked fields to date. The evolution has been such that some works of fiction have flirted with the possibility of the singularity starting here.
Artworks
Can artificial intelligence make art? It is a question that has afflicted humanity for years and that has generated debates among the great specialists in the field and numerous authors of science fiction works. The answers, with few exceptions, were mostly negative, since it was thought that artistic expressions were more linked to the human being, what some would call the soul, than to intelligence itself. Technology, however, has challenged this premise with more and more systems having the ability to create paintings based on pre-existing work. Some minimize this use, others openly oppose it, but none of this has prevented some of the paintings made so far from selling for large sums of money.
