Sam Richardsonstar of Hocus Pocus 2, has made a curious comparison related to the Sanderson sisters. The star has joined the singer Bette Midler, Katy Najimy Y Sarah Jessica Parker as they reprise their roles in the highly anticipated sequel to the family-friendly Halloween movie that premiered in 1993, almost thirty years ago. The three actresses played the witches of Salem, a city in Massachusetts. They try to capture youth thanks to clueless children. So they can be young forever. Upon its release, the film became a cult classic and now many families have become accustomed to enjoying its story during the Halloween celebration. It never fails!
Officially announced in 2019, Hocus Pocus 2 will also see the return of Douglas Jones (Star Trek Discovery) like the zombie Billy Butcherson. The film will be directed by Anne Fletcher (dumpling) and written by Jen D’Angelo (Young Rock). Sam Richardson will also be part of the cast. However, details about his character remain a mystery. No key information about the sequel has been revealed yet, but we do know that it will take place twenty-nine years after the events of the first installment. It will focus on the lives of three high school students who must stop the Sanderson sisters as they unleash their magic on the streets of Salem.
The trio of sisters is like the Three Stooges!
In a recent interview given to The New YorkerSam Richardson made a rather unexpected comparison when talking about the Sanderson sisters in Hocus Pocus 2. The star said that he rewatched the original movie several times before filming the sequel. When asked if she noticed anything new when looking at her through adult eyes, Sam Richardson revealed that the trio of witches reminded her of the Three Stooges.
“I think as a kid it’s like…Wow! There are three very funny women”, explained the new protagonist of Hocus Pocus 2. “Now it seems to me that they are three very funny ladies, but in a somewhat special way. They remind me of the Three Stooges. Winifred is Moe, Larry is Kathy Najimy’s character, and Sarah Jessica Parker is Curly. That’s why they have such fun dynamics. It was really fun when I realized that parallelism.” What do you think? Do you think he is right?
