‘Rick and Morty’ may no longer be the groundbreaking series it was a few years ago. After season 3 the fanaticism has gone down, although curiously now they are in one of their best moments on a creative level. The trailer for its season 6 gives everything one could ask for from the Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland series: alien planets, aliens, action and pop self-awareness.
They want you to say “Wubba lubba dub dub” at the end
It is true that, within the usual madness to which ‘Rick and Morty’ has accustomed us, this trailer looks like more of the same. But of course, if “more of the same” are explosions, gunshots, alien spaceships, severed arms, last-second escapes and Kaffir humor, it’s not hard to want more.
The creators of the series have said that this new season it is a return to form after a different season 5 that they did not like, produced after the death of producer J. Michael Mendel and in no man’s land. To reassure fans, Justin Roiland has claimed that the new batch of episodes will be “fucking amazing”. Let’s see if it’s true.
So far, in the trailer we have a couple of good jokes and a goal ending which proves that they themselves are fed up with their most popular creations. If they used to laugh at Pickle Rick, now is the time to laugh at “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub”. After all, ‘Rick and Morty’ has always been this: self-awareness and humor to the bitter end.
