If you were born in the 70s and 80s, Lilí Ledy toys were one of those that marked the generations of millions of Mexicans on Three Kings Day
Those who were born in the 70s and 80s will surely remember a line of toys that marked an entire generation: Lilí Ledy.
This company was founded in the 1950s, although its success occurred in the 1970s by having the toy licenses produced in the United States by the companies Mego, Kenner, MacPlay, Hasbro and Mattel.
Precisely the first toys that Lilí Ledy commercialized successfully were the dolls inspired by the Mego line, which were made in Mexico.
The name Lili Ledy is due to its two lines of games, Lili (dedicated to girls) and Ledy (dedicated to boys).
The queens of the home and their favorites
The popular Lagrimitas Lilí doll had a great influence, which innovated in the national toy market, both for the functions of the doll and for its advertising.
The Tree House was also one of the most popular toys of this brand.
Another of the most requested toys in the 70s was the Strawberry Shortcake line.
We cannot forget another of the most coveted gifts among girls born in the 70’s and 80’s, such as the Magic Oven.
Also thanks to Lili Ledy, Mexico got to know the first Barbie dolls, made in national territory, although with the arrival of Mattel in Mexico, and the end of its agreement with Lili Ledy, the company changed its name to Bárbara.
Toys that are now collectibles
While for children there was a wide variety of mountables, action figures and playsets that to date reach exorbitant prices.
Thanks to Lili Ledy, the national market had access to toys from the Star Wars saga.
In addition to the action figures, impressive ships like the Millennium Falcon could not be forgotten.
Another line that was popular in Mexico was that of the Superpowers, inspired by the Super Powers Collection, a DC Comics line produced in the United States by the Kenner company.
One of Lilí Ledy’s most popular educational toys was the Tooth Doctor game set, with which dental pieces could be molded thanks to SuperMass
Unfortunately, the economic crises, added to the entry of more toy companies, forced the Lili Ledy toy factory to close its doors in 1985.
