The new movie of Netflix on Marilyn Monroetitled “Blonde”, contains a graphic scene in which the actress is brutally abused by former US President John F. Kennedywhich has left some viewers perturbed.
The film, starring Anne of Arms, Adrian Brody, bobby cannavale, Xavier Samuel, Casper Philipson Y Julianne Nicholson, was recently released in theaters and will hit the platform of streaming next september 28; and although it shows some real aspects of the life of the late Hollywood star, it is said to be a fictionalized version, based on the 2000 novel written by Joyce Carol Oates.
Yes ok The film received heavy criticism in August after it was announced that it had been rated NC17. -which means that children under 17 cannot see it, even under the supervision of an adult-, now it has been revealed to contain multiple depictions of sexual assault and violence, including a fictional scene in which JFK, played by Phillipson, forces the actress to perform oral sex on him before immobilizing and abusing her. Also, during a part of the film, Secret Service agents are seen dragging Marilyn to a hotel room, where President JFK is waiting for her on her bed.
“I’m glad to see you, darling. It’s been a hell of a day,” she tells him, before taking his hand and stuffing it down his pants. He then forces her to perform oral sex on him and abuses her. The scene shows Marilyn waking up in bed with bruises all over her body, before running to the bathroom to throw up. vulture described the moment as “incredibly tense, disturbing, extremely uncomfortable and exploitative”while the people in Twitter called it “disgusting” and “unnecessary”.
“The graphic scene of abuse in ‘Blonde’ it’s not for the sake of art. It is for the sake of the fantasies of a dead woman who once asked not to be mocked,” one user wrote. Twitter. “I have nothing against biographical films that lean toward the phony but making up scenes of abuse to add to the story that is supposed to criticize sexualization seems kind of exploitative,” another person said. Another user added: “Sorry, but it’s exploitation. The woman is dead and they are using it as an excuse to show her naked half the time and practically make it into a torture porn movie.”
Director Andrew Dominic previously defended the film to ScreenDaily, stating, “It’s a demanding movie. If the public doesn’t like it, it’s the public’s problem. It’s not about running for public office.” De Armas echoed his opinion and declared to the magazine L’Officiel: “I can say that there are many series or movies that are much more explicit and with much more sexual content than ‘Blonde’. But to tell this story, it’s important to show all those moments in Marilyn’s life that made her end the way she did. She had to explain it. Everybody (in the cast) knew that we had to go to uncomfortable places. I wasn’t the only one.”
Marilyn has been rumored to have had a consensual love affair with the president, which was revealed in the earlier documentary of Netflix, “The mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The unheard tapes”. It is famous the fact that she sang him the song “Happy birthday” seductively at a dinner party in 1962, but a few months later she was found dead. There has been speculation for decades that Monroe, who died of a “probable overdose” at age 36, was murdered. for his secret romantic relationships with the president and his brother, the attorney general Robert Kennedy.
