The loss of protagonists of ‘Sex Education’ is on the way to being a disbandment. First was Simone-Ashley which confirmed his departure to focus exclusively on ‘The Bridgertons’, then Patricia Allison revealed that it would not be Ola again in the new episodes and now it has been Tanya Reynolds the one that has made its departure from the series official Netflix.
The truth is that these marches make sense considering how the third season ended, but it is still a shame that several characters in the series are going to disappear so abruptly. Also, don’t be surprised if there are more, because the idea with the new episodes is mix well-known characters with other newcomers. Come on, ‘Sex Education’ is going to become an ‘Elite’.
Reynolds herself, who played Lily in ‘Sex Education’, has revealed her departure in a talk with Radio Times in which she has commented on the following on his departure from the series:
It’s the natural progression of these series: when you have such a large cast and so many characters, I think you have to let go of some old characters to make way for new ones, which is absolutely correct, the way it should happen.
We will have to be attentive to what other abandonments are confirmed. For now, zero surprises if so much Emma Mckey (Maeve) like Ncuti Gatwa (Eric) also get off the ship. The second, if not for the fourth season, will be for the fifth – as long as it gets done – because his commitment to ‘Doctor Who’ I doubt will leave him much free time.
If you miss ‘Sex Education’, perhaps in our list of the best Netflix series of 2022 you will find one that makes the wait until the premiere of the fourth season more bearable.
