Surely many of you remember some curious statements by james cameron saying that he doesn’t care if watching ‘Avatar: The sense of water’ we got up to go to the bathroom. Already then he dropped that it was going to be a very long film and now it has been leaked that its duration will be more than 3 hours, specifically 190 minutes.
In this way, ‘Avatar 2’ will be one of the longest movies of the year, also far exceeding the duration of the first installment of the saga. Recall that the original version of ‘Avatar’ lasted 162 minutes, while the extended version for theaters went up to 170 and the extended assembly for collectors at 178.
The big question now is if the film will really justify this long duration or if it will be a mere whim of Cameron. After all, it will be very difficult for any Disney executive to fault the sequel to the highest-grossing film of all time…
I remind you that the premiere of ‘Avatar: The sense of water’ is scheduled for December 16, 2022. Curiously, just a week later, ‘Babylon’ will be released in the United States, the new work by Damian Chazelle which will also have a very long duration, since it is confirmed that it will last up to 188 minutes, just two less than the long-awaited sequel to ‘Avatar’.
