With sadness, we recognize that Mexico is one of the countries with the most cases of child disappearance and kidnapping. It is so common that in schools, homes and on social networks constant recommendations are made to prevent and know how to act in this type of situation.
It is a bitter subject that tends to anguish and discourage the population, but on some occasions it also manages to raise hopes with cases such as that of Juana, who was lost, at the age of three, in the Bosque de Chapultepec, in Mexico City. , but, surprisingly, he was able to meet his mother again after 27 years.
The bittersweet story began on October 1, 1995, when Lorena took her daughter Juana to this park of almost 700 hectares. But what began as a normal day turned somber after the minor disappeared from her mother’s sight, which led her to report her as missing and receive help from the Support Center for Missing and Absent Persons (CAPEA) to find her.
Unfortunately, at that time, there was no way to make news viral like now social networks allow us, so the way to spread the disappearance of the minor was through flyers and on the news. However, the spread was insufficient, culminating in 27 years of waiting for fate to bring them together again.
During that long period of time, Juana grew up with the name of Rocío, until, in 2022, when she was 30 years old, she recognized herself in an image that a foundation spread through social networks, which led her to investigate further with the help of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Search of Disappeared Persons of the CDMX Attorney General’s Office and the foundation in which he recognized his photo.

Upon discovery, the relevant genetic samples were taken from both the mother and what could be her daughter. Once the results were ready, in the company of experts, doctors, psychologists and victim assistance personnel, Lorena and Juana were informed that they had a 99.999 percent genetic match.
The moving moment culminated in a hug between Lorena and her daughter, who, breathing hard, heard the expert say:
She is a biological mother, therefore, motherhood is practically proven.
