The 2022 season kicked off in March with the call for interested participants to send a video improvising through the official Red Bull Batalla app.
A special jury was given the task of selecting the best from each country to put together the National Finals and the regional qualifiers.
For the second consecutive year, one of the participants in the Red Bull Battle International Final arose from the plazas of America and Spain. Sixteen MCs champions of underground competitions around the world competed for a place in the main international freestyle event among all Spanish-speaking countries.
Another of the participants was chosen through an online vote in which the Chilean Theorem it was made with 47% of the more than 400 thousand votes received.
A runner-up tournament was also held in Mexico City with the other four runners-up with the most votes; competition you won skipper.
The most anticipated final, in the land of the reigning champion
In the first round of battles there were clashes worthy of final instances. The format of the Eighths was given to 8×8 with a theme in the first round, followed by a free 4×4 with 5 entries per MC for the second round.
For these moments, the spirit in the Palacio de los Deportes was already very high, the public reacted to each shoot and rhyme that accused some MC.
With some very duels complicated and the public divided between the opinion of the judges and the height of the matches, we reached the next round, the Quarterfinals format was given to 1 minute Round trip in both rounds, with the option of 4×4 free, five tickets, in case of replica. The candidates for the grand finale were finally ready: Rapder, Gazir, Aczino and Mecha.
The format of the semis brought two trunks onto the stage for the dynamics of objects in which Gazir and Aczino demonstrated their a cappella dominance. The second round was 8×8 free with four tickets per MC. In the event of a reply, the freestylers would face off in a free 4×4 to five entries. This was only necessary for Rapder, but it was not enough to get Gazir out of contention, leaving all Mexicans only with the dream of seeing two compatriots in the final ring.
The long-awaited match that pitted Aczino, the only surviving Mexican in the competition, against Gazir who found his way to the final instance through a path full of aftershocks. The format would be 3 rounds: two at 1 minute roundtrip and a very final 4×4 free with 6 tickets per MC.
The champion?
As already mentioned, the native of Los Reyes, La Paz in the State of Mexico managed to win the third championship of Red Bull Battle.
After the festivities, one more mystery was solved: where will the final be next year? The flags rotated on the giant screens until making it clear that the Colombian colors will be in charge of painting the stage of the great Red Bull Batalla Internacional in 2023.
