A few years ago the anime movies They were only coming to us with a dropper, but luckily things have changed a lot and every time we can enjoy them on the big screen.
This has been a golden year for the franchises between ‘Finding the magical Doremi’, ‘Jujutsu Kaisen 0’, ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’ and ‘One Piece Film Red’, and just on time to close the year also came the movie of ‘The Quintessential Quintuplets’.
choose wisely
The protagonist of our romantic comedy is futaro uesugi, a very diligent student whose family is going through a hard time and accumulating debt. He gets a golden opportunity to make some extra money tutoring the Nakano sisters, some quintuplets who have zero interest in studying and who at first can’t even see him, but Futaro manages to win them over little by little.
After two anime seasons of 12 chapters each, there were still a few story arcs to cover… and especially the ending. Because in the end the big question of the series is who Futaro ends up marrying.
Because how could it be otherwise, the five sisters end up developing complicated feelings towards Futaro and soon it is created a mystery game about who will be the bride that has been seen in some scenes of the future.
Obviously, if you are not a fan of the anime of ‘The Quintessential Quintuplets’ you are reaching the end of the road for nothing. It’s a closing and farewell film dedicated to fans of the story, and it doesn’t have much to add if you’re starting from scratch because it serves as a natural continuation to the anime and doesn’t spend a lot of time catching up on who’s who in case that someone was going to hook up from scratch.
‘The Quintessential Quintuplets’ tries to play clueless with the identity of Futaro’s future wife… and precisely So much mystery works a bit against him because when you finally discover who he is, it can be a bit disappointing because by maintaining so much intrigue the importance of this relationship is somewhat reduced.

With the fashion that is prevailing to adapt certain arcs to film format, it does give the feeling that ‘The Quintessential Quintuplets’ could have simply stayed in a closing miniseries to give certain things a little more time. Bibury Animation Studios repeated with the production of the film, which has a very correct animation and that it stays at the level of the anime series.
Now, for the followers of the series it is a romantic comedy with a lot of charm and a soft and emotional tone that can be too cloying. Although of course, it also has some minor moments of drama by digging a little deeper into the past of the Nakano sisters, especially when remembering her mother.
surprisingly It is also at times a very mature film by looking back and seeing how Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki have grown throughout history, and what the future holds for them. Entering the fair spoilers, logically we have a time jump into the future and It is very nice to see how each one of them has ended up directing their lives in very different ways.
Because maybe ‘The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie’ doesn’t give us the fairy tale ending we wanted for our favorite couple, but it does ensure that all our protagonists have a bright and happy future ahead of them.
Another chance
In May it was released in Japan, and in October Crunchyroll finally confirmed that we could see it in Spain and many other European countries, although with a limited pass of a few days. If you missed it on the big screen at the time, it’s the perfect time to try again: ‘The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie’ temporarily returns to theaters.

Kinepolis has confirmed that we will have another opportunity to see the film this weekend, during Friday, January 13 and Saturday, January 14. Of course, the rooms are very limited and can only be seen in theaters FULL HD in Barcelona and in Kínepolis Madrid City of the Image. In both cities ‘The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie’ will only be in the original version with subtitles.
If it can’t be either, it’s very possible that crunchyroll I ended up adding it to his streaming platform in the future as he has done with other anime films that he has distributed internationally. So for now, be patient.
