The cancellation of ‘Stargirl’ just a few weeks ago has left many fans of the series and the DC character orphaned. Although then it was made sure that Geoff Johns already had that possibility in mind At the time of writing the season 3 finale, it is Brec Bassinger the one who has told us to what extent.
The young actress was invited to The Wayne Ayers Podcast and in the conversation she has assured that, two months before receiving the official news of the cancellation, they shot two different endings for season 3.
Something done “just in case” and not to leave fans stunned:
Geoff [Johns] he was very smart because obviously there were a lot of changes at the CW and the Warner Brothers this past year, so the future of any series was not taken for granted and because of that, he went further and shot two different endings, because he didn’t want to leave the fans with all these questions.”
Two endings for ‘Stargirl’
The now finale of the series, which we will see on December 7 on HBO Max, was filmed in the middle of last March together with what was to be the original conclusion of the season. According to Brec Bassinger, It could be that this alternative ending ended up being edited on a future ‘Stargirl’ DVD set.
Obviously, taking into account that there are two episodes left to see, the actress did not want to go into detail. But, in his words, there was a certain cliffhanger to leave fans wanting a new season. A season 4 that would have been “crazy”:
“It would have made people sad because the idea for Season 4 was crazy. I mean, it would have been epic. And I actually think that’s why it took us a long time to officially get the news of the cancellation, because Geoff came up with such a wonderful idea… but it wasn’t going to happen.”
