Little by little we are knowing details of ‘Dune: Sisterhood’, the prequel to the science fiction saga that HBO Max is preparing in series format. And among those details is that we already have protagonists: Emily Watson (‘Chernobyl’) and Shirley Henderson (‘Harry Potter’) will be in charge of leading the cast.
The Origin of the Bene Gesserit
Set ten thousand years before Denis Villeneuve’s film, the series will follow the origins of the sect known as Bene Gesserit and how it is born from the secret organization known as the Brotherhood, with Valya and Tula Harkonnen of prominent members.
Watson and Henderson play Valya and Tula respectively in a fiction that is based on (or at least inspired by) the novels written by Brian Herbert (son of Frank Herbert) and Kevin J. Andersonwhich developed the remote past of this universe.
‘Dune: Sisterhood’, the project’s provisional title, has Diane Ademu John as creator, screenwriter and co-showrunner, the latter position she shares with Alison Schapker. In the direction of the first episode is Johan Renck, who already worked with Watson in ‘Chernobyl’ and replaces Villeneuve himself, who left the project to get in depth with part 2 of the film.
