Although many may raise their eyebrows and be tempted to call me simple after reading this, I cannot hide —nor do I want to— the fact that I am a man of simple tastes and that the hilarious ‘The Sausage Party’ made me go out from the movie theater with stiffness after having me for an hour and a half laughing my ass off with their savagery and old jokes.
There are never enough dirty jokes
If, like me, you enjoyed the feature film by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, you’re in luck, because the adventures of Frank, Barry, Brenda and company will continue on the small screen with the help of Amazon Prime Video in a series titled ‘Sausage Party: Foodtopia’. The platform has given green light to a first season Composed of eight episodes, and which will bring together a good part of the original cast.
As has transpired, Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, David Krumholtz, Michael Cera and Edward Norton will return to lend their vocal chords to the characters of the 2016 film. They will be joined by new additions such as Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell and Yassir Lester, shaping a top-level cast, but in which they miss people like James Franco, Jonah Hill or Danny McBride – who could join later.
Evan Goldberg, executive producer of the series, has accompanied the announcement with this 100% house brand statement.
“Film used to be a higher art form than television and we humbly reached the pinnacle of what we could achieve in film with our incredible opus ‘Sausage Party’. But now that film is completely dead and the TV is the eternal king of entertainment, we’ve decided to continue our culinary team’s epic adventure in soon to be legendary television masterpiece ‘Sausage Party: Foodtopia’ It has the same heart, twice the puns and triple the sex between meals. In other words, it’s exactly what the world needs right now.”
‘Sausage Party: Foodtopia’ will have Ariel Shaffir and Kyle Hunter as showrunners, who co-wrote Sausage Party with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who will serve as executive producers. At the moment no details have been released about its release date or its plot, but I can already tell you that it is one of the ongoing projects that I have on my radar from this very moment.
