“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate” has been directed by James Mangold, director of box office hits such as “Le Mans 66 (2019), “Logan” (2017) and “Walk the Line” (2005), which narrates the story of singer Johnny Cash.
The film will be screened on May 18 at the 76th Cannes Film Festival.the organizers specified.
The “Indiana Jones” saga, one of the highest grossing in film history, began in 1981 with “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, an original idea by Georges Lucas and directed by Steven Spielberg. This fifth installment will be released commercially on June 30 in the United States.
Cannes says in its statement that it is preparing an “exceptional” reception for Ford and his co-stars, including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas and Mads Mikkelsen. The climb up the stairs of the Palais de la Croisette will be done to the music of John Williamsthe great composer of the soundtrack of “Indiana Jones” and many other Hollywood hits.
Produced by Georges Lucas and Steven Spielberg for Disney and LucasFilms, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate” is the second film to be announced at Cannes, following Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert de Niro.
The jury of the 76th Cannes Film Festival (May 16 to 27) will be chaired by the Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund, winner of two Palme d’Or (“The Square” and “The Triangle of Sadness”).
The rest of the official selection will be released in mid-April.
