A couple of weeks ago I told you that the people of Millennium Media had decided to turn the page and get to work on a new reboot from ‘Hellboy’. This will be led by brian taylorresponsible for the two delirious ‘Crank’, ‘Gamer’ and the recommendable ‘Mom and Dad’ and will mean the beginning of a new saga that will start by adapting the story of ‘The Twisted Man’.
Habemus Hellboy
When the start-up of the project was announced, we still did not know who would be in charge of wearing Mike Mignola’s half-demon trench coat after the notable works of Ron Perlman and David Harbour. Well, the mystery has already been solved, and the name of the chosen one may leave you somewhat indifferent: jack kesy.
If you have remained the same when reading it, I do not blame you, since the signing has opted for a medium profile of those that can give unexpected surprises. However, for more details, it should be noted that Kesy played Black Tom in ‘Deadpool 2’ and has participated in productions such as ‘Without remorse’, ‘The vigilante’, ’12 brave men’, ‘Baywatch’ or the cathodic ‘The Strain’.
In addition to the confirmation of the first name of the cast of ‘Hellboy’, we have known new details about the production through its own director, who spoke to Collider, among other things, about the R rating of the feature film. Let’s hope that this time it doesn’t get pruned into our movie theaters like it did in 2019.
“I pitched an R-rated folk horror movie, and the Millennium team has done nothing but support me. We’ve had a conversation about, you know, there’s no use doing something R just because it’s R. To make it R we have to add A, B and C. But this source material is dark, scary, violent and adult. So to take advantage of it we don’t want to have any handcuffs on.”
Taylor, in addition, has underlined his intention to be as faithful as possible to the source material.
“We started with a version of Mike [Mignola, creador de ‘Hellboy’] and Chris Golden. Interestingly, a lot of what I’m doing is trying to get it closer to the original comic than they did. A comic will never translate directly to the screen, but I can tell you that my intention with the film is to honor and bring to life the original comics.”
He has also dropped that the new ‘Hellboy’ will be closer to the investigation procedure than to the blockbusters of superheroes to useand has defended the opportunity to have a younger version of the character.
“Some of the comics that Mike did [Mignola] back then they had very different tones. More austere and evil, scary, folk horror. A younger Hellboy roaming the dark corners of the world… Paranormal Investigator… The Twisted Man in particular is a very iconic comic. He is my favorite version of the character. So, to me, the appeal of this is to go back to that and do an actual reboot, which gives us a version of Hellboy that I don’t think we’ve seen yet.”
I don’t know about you, but what I’m reading is giving me enough good vibes to be looking forward to having one. release date What to mark on the calendar. For the moment, in the absence of it, I leave you with the brief synopsis that has transcended
“Struck in rural Appalachia in 1950, Hellboy and a rookie AIDP agent discover a small community dominated by witches and controlled by a local demon with a disturbing connection to Hellboy’s past: the Twisted Man.”
