Netflix He has just achieved his new great success with ‘The school of good and evil’, a film that came with the vocation of being the start of a ‘Harry Potter’-style franchise. The audience figures for its first weekend make it clear that this adaptation of the novel by Soman Chainani has convinced an audience that has chosen to ignore the mostly negative reviews.
In the case of ‘The school of good and evil’ we have just 36% positive reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, a figure very similar to that of ‘Black Adam’, with which the same thing has happened. Also, if we take a look at the Top 10 Most Netflix Movies of All Time, it’s clear that being trashed by critics doesn’t do any harm to feature films on the platform.
Both ‘Red Alert’ and ‘The Invisible Agent’, ‘Broken Hearts’, ‘Unforgivable’ and ‘My first kiss 2’ remain below 50% of positive reviews, percentages that are barely higher than ‘Don’t look up’. Most likely, ‘The School of Good and Evil’ will also end up sneaking into that Top 10 in which only ‘The Irishman’ was unanimously applauded by critics.
And it is that ‘The school of good and evil’ added 78.83 million hours played in just 3 days and to reach tenth place “only” has to reach 209.25 million hours in 28 days. It would be rare that it doesn’t end up sneaking in there, but hey, let’s not rule out a collapse of interest during its second week either, which at least gives me the feeling that it’s a movie that may be being watched but I haven’t seen it recommended to practically anyone.
