evil among the sown
The new kids of the corn charge against the older ones led by a girl in this new version set in Nebraska, which features a 12 year old girl possessed by a spirit in a dying cornfield. Under the being’s possession, he begins recruiting the children of his small town of Gatlin to murder the adults along with anyone who opposes his rule. The town’s only hope for survival lies with a bright high school student who resists the planned rampage in town.
It looks like the director has made some notable changes to the story., as King’s version followed a couple of outsiders as they uncovered the vile history of the small town and its children, as well as the cornfield deity “He Who Walks Behind the Crops”. Wimmer directs his own script with Elena Kampouris as the possessed young woman Boleyn Williams, Kate Moyer as Eden Edwards, Callan Mulvey, Bruce Spence, Stephen Hunter, Erika Heynatz, Anna Samson, Sisi Stringer or Andrew S. Gilbert.
For ‘Children of the Corn,’ Wimmer reteams with his producer, John Baldecchi, along with Lucas Foster and Doug Barry. LThe digital effects for the slasher have been created by James Cameron’s acclaimed digital production house, Digital Domain., who was also an executive producer on the film and has worked on a host of major projects. It will hit US theaters on March 3 before jumping to Shudder on March 21.
