After uncovering the multimillion-dollar fraud committed by lawyer Luis Oswaldo Espinoza Marín, owner of the company Asesores Jurídicos Profesionales (AJP), one of the most recognized real estate agencies in the country, on August 6, the man took his own life at his home , in Zapopan, Jalisco.
Luis Oswaldo had been singled out and denounced by more than 130 people, including celebrities from the entertainment world such as Christian Nodal, Mauricio Ochman, Pablo Montero, Vadhir Derbez, among others, for mismanagement in investments ranging between 200 thousand and 22 million pesos, as well as for suddenly closing the company.
After the complaints against the real estate company, the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation folder, which led to a search operation in the Virreyes condominium, located in the municipality of Zapopan, where Luis Espinoza lived.
The agency confirmed that its staff carried out an inspection at Paseo de los Virreyes Coto 7, before 4:00 p.m., on August 6. However, when Patrimonial Crimes agents from the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office tried to enter the home, they detected two detonations with a firearm, for which they had to withdraw, but once the shooting stopped, they entered the house where they found the body without lawyer’s life, with a gun to his chest.
Moments before Luis Oswaldo took his own life, through a video posted on his social networks, the businessman left a message in which he acknowledged the accusations against him and apologized for his actions.
In addition, he confessed that during the 30 years that he had his company, he used it to deceive several of his investors and use the resources they provided him in activities of various kinds.
Likewise, it pointed out that the lack of liquid resources caused by the post-pandemic effect, the banking and political crises, were the reasons that did not allow it to comply with its obligations in a timely manner.
However, after receiving dozens of complaints and alleged death threats, he decided to commit suicide, assuring that he could not move on with his life. Finally, the Jalisco lawyer released the people around him from all responsibility, including his family:
I over-mortgaged the properties that I acquired with the fruit of their investments. For 29 years I fully paid all obligations to each and every one of my investors. Currently, I can no longer move on, all the money they gave me for investments is invested in real estate that is mortgaged, neither my relatives nor co-workers nor my wife nor my children, to whom I apologize, as well as to my clients, fraudulently used resources.
