Legendary horror auteur John Carpenter revealed during Texas Frightmare Weekend (according to the Prague Reporter) that he has remotely directed the TV series ‘Suburban Screams’, which was filmed in Prague. However, Carpenter ran it from the comfort of his home in Los Angeles, probably via zoom.
The director of ‘Halloween’ revealed that I was back behind the scenesbut not in the way many expect:
“I just finished directing, remotely, a TV series called ‘Suburban Screams’ -(‘John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams’) It was shot in Prague, and I just sat on my couch and directed it. It was amazing.” .
The director, during a question and answer session over the weekend, did not go into more detail, but he did a revelation that has aroused much expectation. When asked about the end of “The thing” and who survives in it, Carpenter responded by opening a greater mystery:
“I’m sworn to secrecy, okay? Because there may be, I don’t know if it will go ahead, but there may be THE THING 2”
Although the series marks his first directing effort in more than five years, when he made the music video for his hit song ‘Christine,’ it’s unlikely he’d get behind such a big project at his age. Carpenter’s last film was 2010’s ‘Locked Up’. He also revealed that he is working on another Lost Themes music album. His relationship with Blumhouse and Universal is still fresh and it would not be surprising if the production company was behind the project.
