At Netflix, they have been betting heavily on cinema for a long time as one of their great claims to get new subscribers. Their latest major release has been ‘The Invisible Agent’, a film that they hope to turn into one of those franchises that they are so desperate to achieve. And its success is to a certain extent indisputable, because in just ten days it is already one of the Netflix’s 15 most watched movies of all time.
successful but not so much
For now, ‘The invisible agent’ has to settle for 14th place, since it adds 185.02 million hours played in 10 days. Taking into account that the list measures what was achieved in 28 days, it is clear that the Russo film will climb several positions and it is likely that it will end up reaching the fourth position currently occupied by ‘The Adam Project’ with 233.16 million hours.
Despite this, it was clear that Netflix expected more than the most expensive film they have produced to date with a budget of $200 million, but at the moment of truth the public is sovereign and it seems clear that ‘The invisible agent’ has not interested so much. That also here he did not have an almost impossible mission like the fact that ‘Stranger Things 4’ has “failed” when it comes to dethroning ‘The Squid Game’ as the most watched series on the platform. We’ll see with its fifth season…
Beyond that, the list makes it clear how varied both Netflix’s production and the tastes of its customers are. For example, I highly doubt that ‘The Irishman’ would ever have been one of the highest grossing films of the year, while ‘Blindfolded’ and ‘Unforgivable’ show that Sandra Bullock he’s still a big star.
