HBO will release one episode of ‘The Idol’ per week, starting on June 4. You cannot miss this series that raised controversy in Cannes.
This June 4th it will premiere on HBO the idola series that caused controversy in Cannes when the first two episodes aired. The reason was the scenes with high erotic content of its protagonists: Lily-Rose Depp and Abel Tesfaye “The Weeknd”.
What is it about the idol?
Lily-Rose Depp plays Jocelyn, a young singer who wants to have a brilliant career, full of fame and wealth. she falls in love with tedros (Abel Tesfaye), owner of a club in Los Angeles and leader of a modern cult. The story combines sex, drugs and alcohol, all in a setting that highlights the way the music industry sometimes uses young promises to its advantage.

The cast of the series is complemented by Jennie Ruby Jane, the singer of the k-pop group BLACKPINK. Despite having a secondary role, she was the most cheered of the cast on the red carpet at Cannes.
Also starring are Troye Sivan, Dan Levy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son, and Hank Azaria. It is a cast that promises to give us one of the most intense series of the following weeks.
“From the sick and twisted minds of Sam Levinson and Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye,” warns the trailer for the series. HBO Vice President of Programming Francesca Orsiexplained in an official statement: “When The Idol was brought to us, it became clear that its subversive and revealing take on the cult of the music industry was unlike anything HBO had done before.”
What time does it open the idol on HBO?
From sunday june 4HBO will launch a new episode per week of the series. Here you can see the opening hours in Latin American countries.
- Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Guatemala: 7 pm
- Colombia, Peru, Panama and Ecuador: 8 pm
- Chile, Venezuela, Bolivia and Puerto Rico: 9 pm
- Argentina, Uruguay: 10 p.m.
